E-Business – ebay Back On Its Feet After Search/Browse Outage – WebProNews (blog)

Lorrie Norrington, the president of eBay Marketplaces, tried to do a bit of damage control by stating, "We know this is a really busy time for sellers ramping up for the holiday season. It appears that the eBay board of directors, media and stock analysts are the only ones that buy into the tall tales spun by John Donahoe & his management team. The end result is that changes to eBay have been so poorly crafted, miscalculated and ineptly implemented that buyers and sellers stopped coming to eBay entirely out of disgust for what eBay has become. Let’s see if eBay management will fully compensate buyers and sellers as stated, or if once again, buyers and sellers will have to beg and sit pretty to get the compensation that they rightly deserve. I am betting that there will be widespread problems where eBay attempts to deny feedback withdrawal, listing refunds and buyer coupons to those effected as eBay management seeks to minimize the out of pocket expenses related to making this right. read more

First up, THR recently confirmed that the running time is set at 150 minutes . Say what you will about watching nearly three hours of blue aliens on Pandora, but The Dark Knight had a running time of 152 minutes, and we all know how well that movie did. Now that we know that the running time is pretty much as long as The Dark Knight , it’s not an excuse to blame the running time for its failure (if it does indeed flop). But it’s a very indirect factor. read more

(Article Marketing) Vintage auto: Ford tried to dominate 1950s luxury market with the Edsel – Huntington Herald Dispatch

Dick Krafe, Edsel general manager and Ford vice-president predicted in 1957 that Edsel would exceed the first year sales goal of 200,000 cars. The Edsel name was derived from Edsel Ruddiman, a school mate of the elder Henry Ford. Edsel Ford had a son named Henry II who agreed with his family to name the car Edsel as a tribute to the memory of his father. Among the names considered were Ranger, Pacer, Corsair and Citation which became Edsel car models. During the prosperous years of President Eisenhower’s administration in the 1950s, Ford hoped the Edsel car would lure buyers away from more expensive car makes from its rivals and competitors General Motors and Chrysler. During the 1958 first year production of the Edsel car, there were 18 different models which included two- and four-door sedans, hardtops, station wagons and convertibles. read more
