How to promote an e-commerce business with Twitter's promoted tweets – Helium- About: E-Business

Twitter’s recent foray into monetization has led the social media service to begin offering companies the ability to send out promoted tweets. Promoted tweets, unlike those provided by 3rd party sources which merely go into the Twitter stream, will appear at the top of search results so those that use the Twitter search function will soon be noticing a slew of keyword driven advertising messages akin to those displayed in search engines such as Google. The aim of promoted tweets is to integrate sponsored advertisements without disrupting the normal flow of conversation on the social media service. Depending on the future of its current advertising tests, eCommerce websites will arguably experiment for some time with the advertising service before it becomes a common tool within the marketing toolbox. ECommerce, as predicted, could benefit from the service to build their Twitter following, show ads related to highly specific keywords and trends, be listed in one of the largest search engines (Twitter Search) and be provided real-time data into how their ads are performing. It’s not yet known what benefits eCommerce websites can truly gain from Twitter’s promoted tweets (many companies have remained hush about their involvement) but only time will tell how well the advertising platform takes off and if it proves to be effective for online sales. read more

Business Lessons of “The Social Network” – Motley Fool(E-Business)

The Social Network , which opens on Friday, is a clever drama about the early days of Facebook . Director Fincher and all-star screenplay scribe Aaron Sorkin ( The West Wing , A Few Good Men ) surely added their own touches to a book by Ben Mezrich, who never worked for Facebook or attended Harvard. None of the trailers convey the courtroom drama feel I got out of the movie, and Sony would have been wise to play up a captivating performance by pop star Justin Timberlake as Napster co-founder and later Facebook investor Sean Parker. >Rimini St. adds Oracle E-Business Suite to third-party support lineup – SearchOracle.com

SAN FRANCISCO — Third-party support provider Rimini Street will begin offering support for Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS), its fifth supported product line since the company launched five years ago. Seth Ravin, president and CEO of Rimini Street, said that the decision to support E-Business Suite came after many requests for support from customers. The software giant sued Ravin and Rimini Street earlier this year for ?massive? intellectual property theft, and Rimini Street countersued Oracle in March, claiming anticompetitive practices such as copyright misuse and unfair competition. He also said that while there are currently not many vendors offering third-party support, he hopes that the outcome of the lawsuit — which he said may not even go to trial — will change other vendors? feelings of uncertainty about the third-party support market. read more

Of those businesses that have a digital strategy only one-third said it included a social media component and 36 percent said it was mobile internet compatible. While the Sensis survey suggests SMEs are dragging their heels in exploiting the opportunities presented by social media, Australians’ use of the internet shows no sign of slowing down. Coupled with another Sensis finding that more than 25 percent of Australians are accessing the internet from their mobile, these figures suggest that use of social networking sites is likely to grow further in coming years. Support for the uptake of social media was also reflected in the survey’s findings, with 60 percent of companies that use social networking believing it has a positive impact on the business (40 percent said it made no difference). Report author Christena Singh said in a statement that although the report shows businesses are still behind when it comes to employing social media in their digital strategies, those using them are reporting positive results. read more
